Ferries

Want to see more than one country while visiting the Caribbean?  Depending on where you are staying and where you want to visit, flying might be your only option.  However, some islands have excellent public ferry service options for day trips or multi-island vacations.  Each country also has a number of private options for day trips.  Visit each country’s website for a link to their destination service providers.

Reminders:

• All schedules below show outbound ferries; the same ferries return on the same day unless otherwise specified. Check each ferry company’s schedules for return ferry schedule.
• Most ferries require you to arrive approximately 45 minutes prior to departure.
• You are visiting another country – so remember to bring your passport!
• In addition to the fee for the ferry, please remember that each country will also charge a departure tax.
• Pack your patience! If the weather is inclement, the ferries may not run as scheduled.

Anguilla

Ferries travel between Anguilla to both the French and Dutch sides of Saint Martin.  There are private boat charters that will travel to Simpson Bay Ferry Port for access to Princess Juliana Airport.

Antigua and Barbuda

Ferries travel from Antigua to Barbuda year-round.

The Islands of The Bahamas

The Island of The Bahamas has a national ferry service through Bahamas Ferries.  There are both car and passenger ferry services available from Nassau to The Abacos, Andros, Cat Island, The Exumas, Eleuthera & Harbour Island and Freeport, Grand Bahama.  Keep in mind that if the weather is inclement, the ferries may not run as scheduled. British Virgin Islands

Ferries travel between the BVIs and the USVIs frequently. Ferry companies alternate days of operation; you will be notified of which ferry company is scheduled for that day and time when arriving at the ferry dock. Here’s a link to ferry operators that travel between the USVIs and BVIs:  SCHEDULE Within the BVIs, the islands of Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, Scrub Island, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Norman Island are connecting using multiple ferry services.

Cayman Islands

There are no ferries that run between the three islands that make up Cayman Islands.  However, there is a ferry service that run between different areas of Grand Cayman.

Dominica

Ferries from Roseau’s Passenger Ferry Terminal in Dominica run to Guadeloupe, Martinique and to Saint Lucia.

St. Eustatius

Ferries from Gallows Bay in St. Eustatius run to Anguilla, Saba, St. Kitts and St. Maarten.

Saint Lucia

St. Kitts

St. Kitts has multiple ferries and water taxis that go between St. Kitts and Nevis which can be a quick 20 minute ride or longer. Most boats and ferries travel to Charlestown while the ferry goes from Sea Bridge on St. Kitts to the docks at Cades Bay. Ferries to Nevis cost approximately EC $31.  Water taxis will go from Reggae Beach to Oualie Bay on Nevis.

Saint Martin

Ferries travel between Marigot, Saint Martin to Anguilla as well as to St. Barths (St. Barthélémy).  Please NOTE:  if you are departing for Anguilla from Marigot, departure tax must now be paid in Euros or by card. US dollars are no longer accepted. Please plan accordingly to avoid any delays.

Sint Maarten

Ferries travel from Simpson Bay or from Philipsburg to Anguilla, Saba, St. Barth (St. Barthélémy), St. Eustatius (Statia) and St. Kitts.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines

Ferries board 30 minutes prior to departure.  All passengers must have a government boat pass issued at the Kingstown Ferry Terminal.
